Q1. How do I choose the right therapist for myself?
Choosing a therapist is less about “who is best” and more about who feels right for you. Trust your gut feeling. You can start by looking at what you need support with (anxiety, relationships, burnout, trauma, self-esteem) and then pick someone whose approach and expertise match that. If you’re unsure, we can help you choose based on your concerns.
Q2. What if I don’t feel comfortable with the therapist I’m matched with?
That’s completely okay. Therapy is a relationship, and how you feel in that relationship matters. If you don’t feel understood or safe after a few sessions, you can request a change. We’ll support you in finding a better fit, without any awkwardness or judgment.
Q3. What if I am judged by the therapist?
Our team at The Safe Room prioritises ethical, confidential, safe and non judgemental care in therapy. Each therapist has relevant qualifications and clinical experience, with their own areas of focus. The team is Trauma - informed, Queer Affirmative and Neurodivergent Affirmative.
Q4. How do I know if therapy is working for me?
Therapy can feel different for everyone. Sometimes it feels lighter, sometimes it feels emotionally heavy. Signs it’s working include: feeling more aware of patterns, reacting differently, communicating better, feeling supported, and slowly building more emotional clarity and stability over time. The most important sign is how you feel in the relationship with your therapist - do you feel understood, seen and heard?
Q5. Can I choose a therapist myself or will I be assigned one?
You can absolutely choose your therapist from our team page. If you’d prefer guidance, we can also recommend someone based on your needs, comfort, and preferences once you fill up our google form.
