I approach my clients from the perspective of Emotionally Focused Therapy, Trauma Informed Care and Queer Affirmative Therapy. I also use Narrative Therapy and CBT approaches when I see that the client will benefit from them
I focus on everything that makes the client who they are; all their emotions, their thoughts, their behaviours, their relationship with their body and their relationship with themselves. Understanding all of this gives me an idea of who they are and how I can help them. I place emphasis on processing emotions and experiences as this allows us to learn from them, heal and grow into who we want to be. I would be remiss if I did not mention that this process will be enveloped by a safe and non-judgmental space, full of warmth, care, empathy and a trusting relationship between the therapist and client.
My most fervent hope is that they feel safe with me, that I can slowly earn their trust and create a space where they can share their story and their experiences without fear of judgement or criticism. I further hope that this will allow them to discover themselves, process difficult experiences and heal. I would wish that my clients allow me to witness their journey of self-growth and allow me to support them in this beautiful voyage.
One thing everyone figures out about me within days is that I’m a huge bookworm. I love reading, being transported to different worlds, and learning the vastness of this universe. I also enjoy music and the fact that it has both an energizing and calming effect on me. I am trying to start my journey with the complicated art of cooking, but I must admit that I much prefer going on walks with a trusted friend and connecting for hours.
